When I was preparing to launch the website, I printed out two blank calendar pages, one for a blog posting schedule and one for a Facebook posting schedule. My intention was to provide myself with a little insurance. If I always post the same kind of piece on Wednesdays, I'll have a jumping off point if there's ever a week when nothing is coming to me. Well, I've discovered pretty quickly that having nothing to say is probably not going to be a problem. But getting stressed out over an arbitrary self-imposed schedule is.
I had a beautiful day to myself yesterday. I had planned to squeeze in lots of cleaning, art, and writing. Instead I ate a ton of great food and took a nap. So I have plenty of photos and inspiration for a story, but no time to write, edit, and format one, as I'll be away from home all afternoon and my laptop is not portable. I don't want any aspect of this blog to be stressful if I can avoid it, so I've decided the new plan will be that there will still be a story every week, but the day I post it will change. My daily life is not quite as predictable as I'd convinced myself it was. So this week's story will be posted tomorrow or Friday. The Monday P.O.M.S. and Friday Recap posts will stay on their designated days, though. I tend to force these kinds of silly rules on myself a lot, and I'm trying to be a little kinder to myself.
You all have been so encouraging and engaged so far, and I can't thank you enough! I've included a random picture of the cheesecake I made myself on Mother's Day for your enjoyment.
